Raja Gopaditya built it further in the Kaliyuga era , two thousand seven hundred thirty one,2731. There after repairs were made by Raja Sandhimata who died twenty one years prior to Vikramaditya. Later Raja Lalitaditya repaired it in seven hundred eighty one, 781 of the era of Vikramaditya during which period a saint by the name of Shankaracharya lived and who for a long time practiced penance here and hence the temple is called Shankrachar. Recently a Linga ( phallic shaped ) image of Siva with serpentine engraving around it was installed. Of all the temples, is the oldest one. On a pillar of the temple is written in Persian, built in forty four year of the Raja Vashistha era. So is it written in the first line, the second line presents difficulty in reading. Presently preserved in Shankrachar and believed by Brahmans to be built in - ? Of Raja Jalauka. (Text with lacunae hence not completely readable) |
